Current

I am an experienced front-end web developer, specialising in HTML, CSS and jQuery/JavaScript, search engine optimisation (SEO), accessibility and usability.

I work from my home office in West Sussex, within commuter distance of London which allows for regular meetings with clients as needed.

History

While waiting for my dream to become a footballer or a writer to come to fruition, I started working at Ballard Chalmers to pay the rent. It was 1998 and the internet was booming. Though HTML and CSS have changed greatly over the years, I learnt a lot of the basics there. More importantly, I learnt the value of client relationships, meeting deadlines, and producing a great product.

In my spare time, I managed to take advantage of the inflated online advertising industry by creating a fantasy roleplaying game, which did very well until the dot com bubble burst in early 2000.

In 2005, I decided to expand on my skill set by learning Adobe (then Macromedia) Flash. However, today I find HTML 5 and CSS 3 a better option, especially with Apple's stance against Flash Player.

Personal

A bit about me

I live in West Sussex with my wife of eight years and my two year-old daughter. I enjoy taking walks in the Ashdown Forest and spending time with my family. I am a bit of a book worm (children's fantasy) and I love writing. I'm also a sports fanatic across just about every sphere.

  • 30 (mainly miserable) years supporting Tottenham Hotspur
  • 25 years attempting (and failing) to hit a golf ball
  • 18 writing fiction
  • 8 years (and counting) happily married
  • 2 years of fatherhood
